From Rust Belt Roots to SoCal Tacos
A native to Kent, Ohio, I grew up in a modest home where I learned to cook at a fairly young age. In my early teenage years I found myself in and out of kitchens starting as a dishwasher and progressed through the ranks; sous chef to kitchen manager.
After high school I moved to Denver, Colorado and landed a great gig working in what’s known as the celebrity hang out. Marlowe’s on 16th raised the bar and honed skills needed in an urban cutting edge establishment. Then off to Ventura, California where I continued to work in kitchens and met some of my biggest mentors to this day. I learned to run a kitchen from top to bottom and understood the amount of elbow grease that goes into running some of the greatest restaurants. While in Southern California I found my love of Mexican street food and enjoyed frequenting the many carts lining the city streets.
Still Rollin’, Still Growin’
As we step into our 8th year with Avo-rrito, we couldn’t feel more humbled—or more grateful. This journey has been incredible, and serving you clean, healthy, flavorful food continues to be one of our greatest joys.
We think back to our early days in a simple 10×10 tent, weathering every hurdle and every storm. Now, we’re rolling strong in our trailer and still amazed at how far we’ve come.
And truly—we couldn’t be here without you. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for cheering us on, showing up hungry, and supporting us every step of the way.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to keep bringing you the clean, whole-food goodness you love, now with even more of our signature island twist. Fresh, fun flavors will always be at the core of what we do.
We’re also thrilled to be growing our hot sauce and seasoning line, which has already been getting amazing feedback. This new chapter feels big, and we can’t wait to see where it leads.
Most of all, we’re grateful to grow alongside you—celebrating life’s moments at local breweries and festivals, birthdays, graduation parties, and even your weddings. Here’s to the next few years of flavor, fun, and community. We can’t wait to share it all with you.
